The Extech Water Restoration Contractor Kit includes a thermal imaging camera quickly locates areas of moisture in building materials. The kit utilizes a combination moisture meter/thermal hygrometer to capture all ambient conditions as well as moisture levels in one meter. The kit is supplied in a rugged heavy duty hard carrying case thatprovides protection and organization for the meters andaccessories whenever they are needed. It contains: 


Model FLIR i7 compact IR camera for a high quality, focus free solution to capture images stored on a mini SD card. The camera takes temperature readings from 32 to 482°F. Model MO290 pinless moisture psychrometer + IR to monitor moisture in wood and building materials with virtually no surface damage, as well as a built-in RH/temperature probe to measure relative humidity, air temperature, dew point, grains per pound, and vapor pressure. The InfraRed thermometer with laser pointer allows for non-contact surface temperature measurements.

New Benthic Underwater Microscope Captures Coral Wars

Researchers from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California - San Diego have designed and built a diver-operated underwater microscope to study millimeter-scale processes as they naturally occur on the seafloor. The research team has observed coral turf wars, coral polyp “kissing” and much more using the new microscopic technology. Many important biological processes in the ocean take place at microscopic scales, but when scientists remove organisms from their native habitats to study them in the lab, much of the information and its context are lost.
