MS9520 6 x 9 Coaxial Speakers

JBL Marine Series Speakers are ready to take on anything Mother Nature throws your way. With Plus One™ woofers and balanced dome tweeters, you'll hear the clarity of your audio above the raucous sounds of the sea. Designed to take on the sun, sea spray and scrub downs, these powerful speakers feature waterproof motor structures, a one-piece cast-polymer basket, a sealed magnet, and rubber surrounds.

Product Features:

Plus One™ Woofer Cones
Plus One™ polypropylene cones provide more overall speaker-cone area than other cones in its class - the result is higher sensitivity, increased low-frequency output and greater musical character.
Balanced Dome Tweeters
Weather resistant tweeters deliver a smooth high-frequency response and increased power handling for highs and mids, which equates to more lifelike sound from vocals, cymbals, brass instruments and pianos.
Designed for the Elements
Their one-piece polymer basket is designed to stand the test of time, even after long exposure to the sun and salt. Rubber surrounds offer superior edge protection and are much more reliable than foam. And a grille-mounted tweeter allows the front of the woofer cone to be sealed, protecting the motor structure from sea spray.
Individually Voiced
For most brands, off-the-shelf speakers and a cursory approval of frequency response curves are good enough. That's not the case with JBL. We don't only listen to our speakers against the competition - we voice them against each other to ensure each line has the consistent JBL sound signature that's known and sought out by those who care about their audio. This is just part of an extensive development process undertaken by some of the best transducer engineers in the world to provide the finest listening experience at any price point.
OEM-Level Reliability Testing
JBL tests every speaker design to rigid specifications, subjecting them to extreme conditions that would break lesser speakers - this ideal for equipment that will be heavily driven in the elements. We freeze them, bake them, shake them, blast them with ultraviolet light and drive them at full power for days to make sure your audio investment lasts for years.

Targeting Spawning Bass: Are They Going to Bite?

This time of year, anglers all over are fishing for bass they can see in the shallows. Some bass will be easy to catch and some are nearly impossible, like those that are in the act of spawning instead of just guarding their beds. There are a few things that I do to determine if the fish is going to bite and if they are worth spending time fishing for. Locating Bedding Bass One of the best ways to find bedding bass is to cruise the shallows with your trolling motor at about 40 or 50%. I have found that this is the best speed to both cover water and avoid spooking fish. Anything faster will scare fish away long before you get to them.

Researchers Find Link Between Climate Change and Gastrointestinal Illnesses

An understanding of climate change’s effects on the environment has become commonplace and grows every day, but one researcher from Florida State University is looking to answer a new question: What are climate change’s effects on people’s health? In one of the first studies of its kind, Chris Uejio, an assistant professor at FSU, and a team of researchers studied how climate change can affect the roughly 20 million Americans (according to the Environmental Protection Agency) who consume untreated drinking water on a daily basis. Because climate forecasts are predicting higher rainfall rates over the next few decades, coming down in intense storms, Uejio said those flashes could cause flare-ups in waterborne illnesses.

Data Buoys Infographic

We put together this infographic on data buoys for our Spring 2017 edition of the Environmental Monitor ( PDF available online ). Organizations across the globe use data buoy systems to observe and monitor atmospheric and oceanographic conditions in remote locations. Measurements range from air pressure, humidity, wind speed and direction to wave height, water temperature, dissolved oxygen and other water quality parameters. With the help of national and international networks, reliable and comprehensive data sets are made available for research and public safety.
