Measure weather where it really matters - at the track!

Features:

  • Measures moisture content (grains),air density,relative air density(RAD),realitive humidity,temperature,barometric pressure,wind speed and much more - 14 measurements in all

The next generation of track weather monitoring is the here with the Kestrel 5100 Weather Meter.

When winning matters, take the Kestrel 5100 for a ride. The Kestrel 5100 is just as accurate, reliable and user-friendly as the original Kestrel 4250. It measures moisture content in grains, air density, relative air density, humidity and other critical factors. Count on it for the information you need to make perfect ET predictions and performance-maximizing tuning and jetting decisions.

The Kestrel 5 Series platform adds many new features and options. If you're familiar with the Kestrel 4500, the first thing you'll notice is the larger, higher-resolution and contrast display and improved font readability. The Kestrel 5 series also includes a built-in dual color backlight, extra-strong polycarbonate lens and AA battery operation.

Like all Kestrel meters, the Kestrel 5100 is drop-proof, dust-proof, waterproof and able to withstand harsh environments without damage - so it can race as hard as you do, wherever you do. A range of carry pouch options makes it even easier to take your Kestrel meter with you.

The compact, portable design makes this unit easy to take right to the track - exactly where you need to get the most accurate and race-relevant measurements.

USB Data Transfer Cable
Low profile, lightweight, waterproof cable provides wired connectivity to Windows and Mac computers for fast data uploads and firmware updates. Compatible with every model in the Kestrel 5 Series.

Sleek, rugged tripod vane mount
Small, secure, robust vane mount turns any Kestrel 5 Series meter into a portable weather station that remains oriented into the wind. (Included in some models where noted, otherwise sold as optional accessory.)

Large, high contrast screen
Easily readable text in almost any setting, including bright sunlight, with more visible information on the screen at all times. This high-resolution display is easy on the eyes, allowing you to get more information from customizable user screens, charting and graphing options without causing eye strain or fatigue.

Dual color backlight
Toggle backlight color between standard white and night-vision-preserving red (NV). The red NV backlight features an optical wavelength selected to help users sustain natural night vision and reduced brightness to avoid detection during night maneuvers.

Secure battery door
Large, O-ring sealed door provides easy, tool-free battery access.

Scratch and breakage-resistant window
Rigid, polycarbonate lens with scratch-coating protects the display from damage.

Corrosion-resistant battery compartment
Battery is isolated from electronics, reducing damage in the event of a battery leak. (Note - Lithium AA batteries strongly recommended to avoid battery leakage altogether.)

Intuitive user-interface
Icon-based navigation, intuitive keypad, and multiple languages make the Kestrel a breeze to use.

Ice Fishing With A SondeCAM Underwater Fishing Camera

Thinking of hitting the ice with a SondeCAM underwater fishing camera? Due to its rugged design, you won't have to worry about it handling the harsh elements. However there are a few simple tricks to get the most out of a FishSens SondeCAM while ice fishing. You won't have to do anything to modify the SondeCAM itself, but you are going to have to bring a few extra things. Most importantly we are going to need a power source. Unless you are hauling your gear with a truck, you'll want something more portable than the battery you used in the boat. Pick up an inexpensive and maintenance-free 12-volt, 9-amp battery. It is going to provide plenty of power, but will be much lighter and take up less space.

Size Them Up With A SondeCAM Underwater Fishing Camera

We've all felt the frustration of weeding through a school of dinks to catch a "keeper." Often the small fish outnumber the bigger ones and they are typically more aggressive. Sometimes there's no choice but to deal with it, as is often the case with open water fishing. However a frozen lake involves a vertical presentation and a stable platform, it's a perfect situation to pick and choose which fish you want. Once you locate a school and get set up it's time to start sizing them up with a FishSens SondeCAM underwater fishing camera. It can be mind-blowing just how big some of these schools of fish are and also how outnumbered fish of a desirable size can be.

In Ontario Lakes, Non-Native Bass Impact Native Fish

It’s no secret that anglers have been the means by which invasive species and non-native fish have spread to new water bodies in the past. Fishermen have even been known to transport some of their favorite fish to new areas on purpose so that they can catch them a little closer to home. And the results of those actions have not always been ideal. In Ontario, Canada, fishermen have taken non-native bass and stocked them into what were historically lakes dominated by brook and cutthroat trout. The actions have impacted ecosystems, but scientists have been unable to broadly study the effects because they didn’t have enough data. But that is no longer the case for some Ontario lakes, as a study from biologists at the University of Toronto shows.
