Details

Observe fluid pressures and tank levels anywhere on the vessel where there are NMEA 2000r compatible displays. With the appropriate transducer, the FPM100 reports either pressure or vacuum for a variety of applications including water pressures, oil pressures, hydraulic pressures, or system vacuum for detecting clogged filters.

The FPM100 also has a tank level mode, so that fluid levels in a tank can be monitored via a pressure transducer mounted at the bottom of the tank and transmitted over the NMEA 2000r network. This allows you to monitor the fluid levels in tanks that are extremely deep, have internal structures, or are otherwise not suited for other tank level sensing technologies. In this mode, the FPM100 can be calibrated for irregular tank shapes so that you know the true level of the tanks.

The FPM100 is NMEA 2000r certified so you can view any and all information anywhere on the vessel using a compatible NMEA 2000r display. The FPM100 is a key component of Maretron's N2KViewr vessel monitoring and control system.

Features:

  • Adapts up to six pressure transducers to the NMEA 2000r network
  • Each channel independently programmed to match pressure transducer characteristics
  • Each channel independently programmed in pressure/vacuum mode or tank level mode
  • In Tank Level Mode, measures levels of extremely deep or irregularly shaped tanks

Applications

  • Water Pressure
  • Atmospheric Pressure
  • Compressed Air Pressure
  • Hydraulic Pressure
  • Steam Pressure
  • User Defined Pressure Sources
  • Fuel Tank Level/Volume Remaining
  • Fresh Water Tank Level/Volume Remaining
  • Waste Water Tank Level/Volume Remaining

Researchers Track Glacial Meltwater On Its Surprising Journey

While the scientific community has formed its consensus on how ice sheets are shrinking in and around Greenland, some researchers are tracking what happens to the meltwater as it drains into the ocean each summer. Their study, published in Nature Geoscience by an interdisciplinary team of biologists, oceanographers and hydrologists, used computer models to simulate the meltwater to see where currents take it and what effect it could have on the ocean. Renato Castelao, one of the researchers and an associate professor of marine science for the University of Georgia, said one of the biggest discoveries of the study was the surprising final destinations of the ice sheets as they melt into the ocean each summer.

Ice Fishing With A SondeCAM Underwater Fishing Camera

Thinking of hitting the ice with a SondeCAM underwater fishing camera? Due to its rugged design, you won't have to worry about it handling the harsh elements. However there are a few simple tricks to get the most out of a FishSens SondeCAM while ice fishing. You won't have to do anything to modify the SondeCAM itself, but you are going to have to bring a few extra things. Most importantly we are going to need a power source. Unless you are hauling your gear with a truck, you'll want something more portable than the battery you used in the boat. Pick up an inexpensive and maintenance-free 12-volt, 9-amp battery. It is going to provide plenty of power, but will be much lighter and take up less space.

Size Them Up With A SondeCAM Underwater Fishing Camera

We've all felt the frustration of weeding through a school of dinks to catch a "keeper." Often the small fish outnumber the bigger ones and they are typically more aggressive. Sometimes there's no choice but to deal with it, as is often the case with open water fishing. However a frozen lake involves a vertical presentation and a stable platform, it's a perfect situation to pick and choose which fish you want. Once you locate a school and get set up it's time to start sizing them up with a FishSens SondeCAM underwater fishing camera. It can be mind-blowing just how big some of these schools of fish are and also how outnumbered fish of a desirable size can be.
