X3 Freshwater Edition - *Remanufactured - 1-Year Warranty

Motorguide is excited to introduce the X3 trolling motor designed to deliver better performance and durability for anglers looking for the best value in the 40- to 70-pound thrust range. The X3 offers best-in-class steering performance. A dual cable pull-pull steering system eliminates slack, while the innovative Variable Ratio Technology reduces torque steer feedback and improves responsiveness.

Features
  • Durability means reliability - rigid aircraft-grade aluminum mount, stainless steel bushings and outer shaft, and composite shaft with a lifetime guarantee
  • Quiet on the water - fewer metal-to-metal interfaces, precision bearings, and new composite locking pins eliminate more noise and ensure noise-free operation over time
  • Precision steering - dual cable pull-pull system eliminates slack and provides the best-in-class steering performance

The X3 mounting bracket is built tough with aircraft-grade extruded aluminium to minimize flex and provide precision control under high-thrust.
  • Improved rigidity and durability
  • Easier to stow and deploy
  • Wider base for added stability
  • Stainless steel bushings in key wear points
  • Easy motor height adjustment and motor removal

Rugged Composite Shaft
The larger diameter shafts are rugged and corrosion resistant, paired with a durable stainless steel outer shaft. Special composite construction provides greater impact protection.

Precision Response Steering
The X3 offers best-in-class steering performance. A dual cable pull-pull steering system eliminates slack, while the innovative Variable Ratio Technology reduces torque steer feedback and improves responsiveness. A newly designed and reinforced foot pedal also provides better feel and control.

Variable Ratio Technology
  • Improves steering response
  • Reduces torque steer feedback
  • Dual-cable system eliminates steering slop and noise
  • Precision bearings and locking collar eliminates shaft clicking

Composite Locking Pins
By improving these frequently worn parts with modern composite materials we have exponentially increased durability at the most common failure point. The pins also eliminate annoying metal-on-metal "clicking" which only adds to the already stealthy nature of the X3.

Powerful Dual Blade Propeller
Comes equipped with a 2 blade propeller for maximum power and weedlessness.

In-Home Water Testing: A Talk With the Creator of Tap Score by SimpleWater

In the wake of various water quality crises from Flint, Michigan and Puerto Rico, there is a growing interest and demand among consumers for home water testing. Enter DIY water testing kits like Tap Score by SimpleWater. Tap Score in particular was conceived of and launched by former UC Berkeley grad student John Pujol and co-founder and CTO Julio Rodriguez. “In 2015 we began testing small and rural communities for arsenic in their water,” Pujol explains. “We found it much more frequently than we expected, and also discovered that people in these towns greatly appreciated someone telling them what was in their water and how to fix it.

Hidden Underground Nitrate Pollution Threatens Groundwater Worldwide

For most of us, when we think of nitrate and agricultural pollution, we think of the nitrate that comes from fertilizers and leaches quickly through the soil. The effects of this kind of pollution are realized quickly, but researchers from Lancaster University and the British Geological Survey have recently revealed an underground time bomb of nitrate in rock. In the recent paper , lead author and hydrogeologist Matthew Ascott and the team quantified the vast amounts of nitrate that exist within the layers of rock between the soil and groundwater tables for the first time. They discovered that there is about twice as much nitrate lurking in this rocky vadose zone than there is in the soil—up to 180 million tons—nitrate that has been omitted from global scale nitrogen budgets.

Water in the Desert: The USGS and Arizona's Water Challenges

In a state that knows water is perhaps the single most decisive factor in its continued existence, the Arizona Water Center (AWC), part of the United States Geological Survey (USGS), plays a critically important role. James Leenhouts, Director of the AWC and a hydrologist by training, has lived in Arizona for decades, and devoted his career to helping Arizonans cope with the unique challenges water presents. “A key part of what we do is provide information for resource managers to answer their questions,” Leenhouts explains. “For example, if someone wants to put wells in a certain place in the aquifer, how will it affect nearby wells?” It's a fair question.
