Three Chicago craft beer brewers have joined to support the National Resources Defense Council’s Brewers for Clean Water campaign, according to Medill Reports. Most of the water used by the Chicago brewers comes from Lake Michigan and they say they want to keep it clean.

The brewers supporting it include Half Acre Brewing Co., Goose Island Brewing Co. and Revolution Brewing. The water in Lake Michigan is pretty good, they say, but understand that the brewing process also plays a role in making sure their product is fit to drink.

The NRDC campaign is meant to support high water quality standards on a federal level and many craft brewers from other major U.S. cities have signed on in support of the initiative.
