First ever conference on BP Oil Spill gathers scientists

The first-ever conference on analyzing the effects of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill gathered more than 1,000 scientists, mariners and others who aided response efforts this week to discuss recovery, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Scientists from across the country came to the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill and Ecosystem Conference to discuss oil dispersants, hydrocarbon-consuming bacteria, and biological effects, among many other topics.  Click here to see all study abstracts presented.

A panel discussion noted the need for more research on health effects and socioeconomic impacts of the spill, according to an article in The Advocate.
