USGS app competition to farm out data management applications

A U.S. Geological Survey web application competition gives tech savvy individuals opportunity to create a data management application for the agency, according to a USGS Challenge.gov posting.

Contest coordinators requested applications on biological occurrence records, study metadata records, land cover and taxonomic information.  The USGS will provide access to data relating to an app concept.

App creators will compete for three awards including best app, best student app and most popular.  Winners will be honored at the National Map Users Conference in Denver. The deadline for app submission is April 1.
