The audio/visual indicators have active transmission. The unit floats upright with high visibility built-in strobe.
The Satellite 406 MHz EPIRB with GPS interface is 3.7 x 7.2 x 4.3 in (9.4 x 18.3 x 10.9 cm) with high impact polycarbonate blend case, the unit only weighs 2 lbs (900 g).
The unit has manual deployment by lifting the switch up, slide left, push back and down fully breaking tab. The unit is waterproof up to 33 ft (10 m). The operating life is 48 hours at -40 degrees Celsius. The lithium battery has a 5-year replacement life, while the unit has a 5-year limited warranty.
