The 867-SPT is identical to the Model 867-A, but split into two separate sections to allow for horizontal mount configurations with limited space, such as small trawl resistant moorings. The 867-SPT is housed in 2 separate pressure housings (electronics/transducer in one - release motor in the other) for horizontal mount configurations with limited space such as small trawl resistant moorings.
The 867-SPT is compact, rugged release designed for coastal and inland water to 300 meters depth, capable of releasing 225 kg (500 lb) loads with a lift capacity of 455 kg (1,000 lb.). The Model 867-A is a cost effective and reliable way to acoustically recover your sub-sea instrument packages. The 867-A incorporates a standard Benthos electronics and transducer package currently used in our family of deeper water transponding releases. Secure FSK commands, long life alkaline batteries (up to 2 years on a single pack), and an Omni-directional transducer pattern assure reliable recovery.
The release electronics are housed in a light weight non-corrosive PVC housing, incorporating a fiberglass strong-back with top and bottom shackle points for attachment on conventional in-line moorings. The fiberglass strong-back also allows flexible horizontal mounting of the 867-A into trawl resistant moorings. Acoustic tilt verification is available for vertical or horizontal mounting configurations. The release features an external on/off and arming switch, and an easy means to open the housing for quick replacement of batteries. For use with Benthos Deck Units DS-7000 & DS-8000.
