Details:
The PC-ADP (Pulse-Coherent Acoustic Doppler Profiler) is an ADP optimized for high-resolution, 3-axis (3D), short-range, boundary layer studies. The PC-ADP combines the precision of our ADV (Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter) with the profiling capability of an ADP. Based on the mini-head ADP design, the exceptionally small PC-ADP probe-head results in a much lower flow disturbance than a standard ADP head. The optimized beam geometry provides increased maximum resolvable velocities, increased profiling ranges, reduced side-lobe interference and reduced beam-to-beam velocity decorrelations.
Additional features include
Minimum cell size of 1.6 cm
Sampling rate up to 2 Hz
0.00001 m/s velocity precision
Maximum profiling range of 5 m for 0.2 m/s flows
Maximum velocity of 2 m/s for 0.5 m profiling range
Reduced flow-disturbance head design
Optimized beam geometry
Distance to bottom for all three beams
Acoustic backscatter for sediment studies
Integration with 3rd-party sensors (MicroCAT, OBS, etc.)
SonTek's shaded transducers for reduced side lobes
