The Extech Industrial Troubleshootig Kit with IR is designed for plant maintenance, HVAC, and electrical technicians. The kit is assembled to provide all of the electrical testing needs for installation and repair of electrical systems, HVAC equipment, and large appliances. It is supplied in an attractive storage case that provides protection and organization for the meters whenever they are needed.
The kit includes model EX430 Autoraging True RMS Multimeter with 11 functions including capacitance, frequency, and temperature. Model 42510 Mini IR Thermometer offers non-contact temperature measurements on surfaces difficult or unsafe to reach from -58 to 1000°F and -50 to 538°C. Model MA200 400A Clamp Meter conducts basic AC current measurements with a 1mA resolution. Model 40130 Non-Contact Voltage Detector detects AC voltage from 100VAC to 600VAC without touching the source. Also included in the kit is a set of CAT III 1000V test leads, type K thermcouple probe, and type K to banana input adaptor.

Dr. Charley Liberko of Cornell College's Department of Chemistry has an idea he's working to bring to fruition.
“Imagine a remote village in an underdeveloped country whose only source of water is a stream contaminated with toxic levels of metal ions such as cadmium and nickel,” states Dr. Liberko. “The villagers take locally available woody plant material, soak it in potash, and heat it up for several days until the wood partially decomposes. They then filter their water through this material to remove the metal ions. When they are done with it, they put the material in a clay pot and heat it up even hotter until the organic matter decomposes completely, leaving the metal ion salts as a residue, safely in the clay pot.Read More
