A new research laboratory at Lacawac Sanctuary and Biological Field Station will help further innovative studies going on at the station, according to a release from Miami University. Those include research into optical sensors, as well as emerging sensors and techniques. <\/p>\n
The new facilities will be a resource for members of the Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network, who use Lake Lacawac as a site for training and study. Officials at the school note that it will help students at Miami University studying aquatic and watershed sciences. Scientists from more than 30 other universities and institutions in the U.S. helping with research at the field station will also benefit. <\/p>\n
The new lab is located in a 600-square-foot addition to the sanctuary\u2019s visitor center and office area. It was funded by a grant to Miami University from the National Science Foundation. It opened for use in June 2015. <\/p>\n
