With the recent spread of Asian carp raising concerns, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has developed alternative ideas to prevent the spread of the invasive fish between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River watersheds. A draft report included ideas such as overfishing, ultraviolet light, water guns and releasing native predators into linkage canals. A final draft of the report included more ideas such as freezing or drying some areas or using thermal shock blasting.<\/p>\n
No final decisions have been made as to which options for stopping Asian carp will be implemented.<\/p>\n
