Destination marketing helps sell Pure Michigan campaign

While many state tourism offices are struggling to hold on through budget cuts, Michigan is feeling no pain with over $600 million in revenue this year due to new advertising techniques highlighting the natural beauty of the Great Lakes state.

Nationally ranked No. 7 for total and leisure travel by the U.S. Travel Association, Michigan has utilized radio, television and billboards in the state’s Pure Michigan advertising campaign. According to state officials, the Pure Michigan campaign attracts thousands of new tourists to Michigan, creating profitable opportunities for local business.

Since 2004, Travel Michigan, in conjunction with a research firm specializing in advertising research has been conducting annual studies to assess the impact of Michigan’s summer seasonal advertising.
