The TDS Nomad packs even more functionality into the most powerful and full-featured rugged handheld computer available. All Nomad models feature an 806 MHz processor, 512 MB of Flash storage, a long-life battery, and integrated Bluetooth wireless communication. Deluxe models are available with 1 GB Flash storage, integrated 802.11g wireless communication, GPS, 2 Mega-Pixel digital camera, 1D laser barcode scanner, and EVDO modem for connection to the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network. The Nomad also features CompactFlash (CF) and Secure Digital (SDIO) slots to add even more devices and capability.

With so many built-in capabilities, the Nomad makes it easy to collect, save, and transmit data in the field. The integrated GPS receiver allows you to georeference environmental data with time & date stamp. Field observations can be quickly entered into forms, color images can be captured via the built-in 2 Mega-Pixel camera, and water quality data can be collected by connection to popular water quality sondes or NexSens USB-based WQSensors. Field data can be transmitted in real-time via broadband connection to a centralized database or uploaded via Wi-Fi telemetry upon return to the office or Wi-Fi hotspot.

The Nomad features a high-resolution, sunlight-visible VGA display that shows graphics and maps in crisp detail. Like all TDS rugged handhelds, the Nomad meets the rigorous MIL-STD-810F military standard for drops, vibration, humidity, altitude, and extreme temperatures. The Nomad’s IP-67 rating means it is completely sealed against dust and can survive immersion in up to a meter of water for 30 minutes. TDS rugged handhelds have also proven their reliability in the field with thousands of real-world users.

Every Nomad comes with an 806 MHz Marvell PXA320 XScale processor, 128 MB RAM, and a hot-swappable Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery that can work all day without a recharge. The Nomad also includes the latest Windows Mobile 6 software, so it runs all the applications you use most, including a wide range of third-party software for environmental monitoring applications. Using NexSens WQMobile software, the Nomad can integrate with popular water quality sondes and NexSens WQSensors.
