A volunteer monitoring group at Colorado State University will give free training to weather observers in Denver this April, according to a release. The participants will learn techniques for monitoring drought and climate conditions.

The Community Collaborative Rain Hail and Snow Network began as a precipitation monitoring effort, but is now focused on tracking drought conditions, water supplies, tropical storms and other climatic parameters. The workshops are part of a push to expand its volunteer network.

The group has planned six training events for April, with additional classes to be offered in May. Training materials will be posted online for those unable to attend.
