Overview
The Hach chloride reagent set is designed to determine chloride by mercuric nitrate Digital Titrator titration. The sample is titrated with Silver Nitrate Standard Solution in the presence of potassium chromate (from the Chloride 2 Indicator Powder). The silver nitrate reacts with the chloride present to produce insoluble white silver chloride. After all the chloride has been precipitated, the silver ions react with the excess chromate present to form a red-brown silver chromate precipitate, marking the end point of the titration.

Kansas State classes get a lesson in environmental remediation

Kansas State University professors transformed a plot of land from a problem to a classroom, teaching students on the fly to remediate nutrient pollution. Saugata Datta, an associate professor of geology, and Nathan Nelson, an associate professor of agronomy, taught students to evaluate, sample and remediate land using Kansas Department of Health and Environment protocols.
