Jerad Bales, U.S. Geological Survey chief of research and science for water, explained the agency’s research and regulation efforts in a two-part interview for Research Media.

In part one of the interview, Bales discusses issues facing the U.S. to which the USGS has contributed research.   He discusses how the agency deals aids forest fire response to remote sensing and the prevalence of contaminates in U.S. water supplies.

Part two of the interview, released this week, delves into Bales’ position at the helm and his views on climate change as it relates to U.S. water resources.
